So far Dan has proven to be an absolute God-send to me. His experience of the system, his clarity of speech, his organisation and preparedness, and the fact that he has been through a similar situation to mine make him a formidable ally. He has a very reassuring presence and a lot of humanity about him. Easily as intelligent as any barrister I've met with the added bonus of having been where I am. If this sounds a bit gushing then so be it, but that's how it is.

Despite being a lawyer by profession, I have no previous experience in the family court. My case involves an application for a child arrangements order for my daughter, currently 17 months old. The mother is very hostile and has effectively attempted to delete me from our child's life. She has unleashed hate at every opportunity. Dan Wilson has been fantastic. My natural instincts were to defend myself and prove every single allegation made by the mother to be false. After reading my allegations against the mother and my reply to the mother's allegations, Dan simply advised that I withdraw my allegations and avoid giving the mother's allegations credibility by defending each and every single one. Dan pointed out that best thing I could do was to reduce conflict and he pointed out that dealing with allegations in an adversarial way only increases conflict. I must say that it felt like a leap of faith withdrawing my allegations and only focusing on some of the mother's allegations. I trusted in Dan's 10 years of experience as a McKenzie Friend and it paid off. At the very next hearing which was dealt with by a legal advisor, it was decided no finding of fact hearing was necessary, much to the mother's great disappointment. I was delighted. The parties were ordered to make proposals about contact going forward. The mother is still hostile, but I know Dan is there to give me reassurance and straightforward, no nonsense 'advice'. This is exactly what I need and want and if I'd taken the alternative route involving lawyers, I'm fairly certain I would have been encouraged to defend everything and continue with my allegations. It would have generated many billable hours for the solicitors and barristers involved and I would already be thousands of pounds out of pocket. I am very pleased with the support and 'advice' given by Dan. I plan to continue to use his services until the court makes a final order and I will request he assists me with telephone support, drafting of statements and attendance at hearings. I would not hesitate to recommend Dan to the next passenger on the family court train. Thank you Dan.
